Dr. Timothy Sippel is a lifelong educator with over three decades of experience in urban public school districts. He currently serves as an executive director of schools in the Worcester Public Schools, where he oversees 13 elementary and secondary schools in a district that educates over 24,000 students. Dr. Sippel provides key leadership in the streamlining of central office support and the development of district policies to improve teaching and learning. He has also led the expansion of the Commonwealth’s largest Early College program in partnership with Quinsigamond Community College and Worcester State University. From his early days as a student in Cincinnati, Ohio, attending racially integrated and under-resourced schools, and throughout his career, Dr. Sippel has developed an unwavering commitment to improving public education for all students. He entered the field of education through Teach for America as a bilingual Spanish elementary teacher and taught for 10 years in South Los Angeles. He later held key administrative positions such as English learner coordinator, school improvement facilitator, director of college and career pathways, and high school principal, in which he honed his expertise as an educational innovator. During his tenure in the Pasadena Unified School District, he led the reconstitution and turnaround of the district’s highest-needs high school, substantially boosting graduation rates. He also established cutting-edge career technical education programs and launched the first Early College partnership in Pasadena.
Dr. Sippel holds a Bachelor of Science in foreign service and Latin American studies from Georgetown University and La Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Additionally, he earned a Master of Education from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed his Doctorate in Education Leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2020.
