The French Social Naturalization Club in Lawrence has officially closed its doors. In light of their closing, they awarded the Lawrence Alumni Association and JROTC program scholarships of $10,000 each. Mr. Guilmette presented Major Romano, leader within JROTC, and Mr. Parthum, Associate of the Lawrence Alumni Association, with the scholarship fund which will be given to students for at least the next 10 years. Thank you very much French Social Naturalization Club for your support of the Lawrence youth and future.
Nineteen LPS educators joined a group of more than 500 for a week of deep learning and collaborating to examine applications of Common Core Standards and a fully aligned curriculum for all students. Their experience at the Summer Standards Institute, sponsored by UnboundEd Learning, has been motivating and inspiring. They are enthusiastic and eager to share their learning with colleagues and students!
Students in the South Lawrence East neighborhood will soon have a new place to play. Crews have been working for months to prepare the space that will become the John P. Kane Park. We found an LHS grad working with the Groundwork Lawrence team planting 41 trees to bring some nice shade to the area. Great work everyone!
