Another successful “Healthy Living Expo” was held at the Frost Middle School.  Over 25 groups were here to promote a healthy lifestyle to our students and their families. Showing some healthy snack alternatives was Whole foods treating everyone with a make your own trail mix bar, LPS serving up healthy yogurt parfaits and cedars treating us to some delicious hummus.  Not only was everyone fed well but they also participated in interactive tables such as; spinning the wheel at Healthy Futures, looking a fat and sodium from UMass nutrition services, Boston University’s School of Dentistry handing out samples and demonstrating dental hygiene. Over 25 organizations in Lawrence and neighboring communities took part in keeping our Families informed of opportunities.
Every week, a group of Grade 8 students takes a trip down to Mrs. Morris' Grade 3 classroom at the Frost Educational Complex to work with those students with various topics in science.  Both the 8th graders and the 3rd graders absolutely love the experience!  They learn science, while having fun!
On Thursday, March 19th, the 8th graders at the Robert Frost Middle School took a trip to the Quannapowitt Theatre in Reading, to watch a special daytime performance of, "Of Mice and Men".  The entire 8th grade read the book in reading classes beforehand and the play followed the book to perfection!  The intimate setting allowed the students to be up close to the stage and the amazing actors!  Afterwards the cast and students had a picture, autograph and question and answer session.  Many thanks to the theatre cast and crew for opening the door and their hearts to our students!
Over February vacation, the Frost Middle School had a massive turnout for the ELA Acceleration Academy! Students worked with their teachers in a small group setting to fine tune their reading and writing skills while having a good time.  Students also participated in various enrichment activities such as, Dance-Dance Revolution, gym and computer skills.  Thank you to all the teachers and students for all of their hard work!
The 7th Annual Frost Middle School Humanities Fair was held this week.  This year's fair was a synthesis of literary forms and visual images, as well as original student interpretations of historical and cultural themes.  Grade six focused on World Cultures, which showcased examples of the Eiffel Tower, The Brandenburg Gate and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, amongst others.
Grade seven, with its focus upon Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, showcased such projects as the ancient pyramids, ziggurats, and the Nile River Valley.  Finally grade 8, with its focus on the middle ages, had examples of castles, cathedrals, the black death and scenes from Beowulf and The Romance of Tristan and Iseult.  We also had a great turnout at our parent night and the Scholastic Book fair.  Thank you to all who made this annual event possible!
