Today we are pleased to share Lawrence Public Schools’ initial reopening proposals for the 2020-21 school year, featuring plans for both remote and in-person learning. While it is important to note this is a first draft, with plans to be finalized and a learning model selected soon, we hope it offers important insight into the ongoing planning process as the first day of school approaches on Sept. 16.

Per state guidance, LPS is currently working on three plans for a return to school this fall:

  1. Returning as many students as possible back to classrooms full time
  2. Keeping students on a remote learning model
  3. A hybrid model that includes some classroom time and some remote learning from home

Our plans will be based on Mass. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidance, with important input from our families and schools about their needs and ideas for a safe return.

Below is a schedule of communication, which will be updated regularly.

  • July 9: Phone Poll with LPS Families (also posted on our website through July 10)
  • July 16: Family and Staff surveys (online and at meal locations, 7/16-7/24)
  • Early August: Communication about our path forward
  • August: Virtual Coffee Hour with Superintendent Paris

Student Report Cards will be made available through the Power School Parent Portal on Monday, June 22, 2020. Please review this quick-guide video to create your account from the LPS Website.  Your access code and access password were recently emailed to you. If you did not receive the email, please contact your child’s school.
