teacher and students in future black box theater

Congratulations to the Arlington Middle School, recipient of the 2017 Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative Classroom Resource Grant. They were selected as one of 14 schools from more than 200 applicants to receive $16,900 to be able to purchase lighting equipment. They will convert a former media center into a black box theater so that they can hold productions of their student created "Language in Play" performances. The program has been teaching literacy through theater for 3 years and will now be able to share their plays in a full theatrical experience.

Arlington Squash Busters practicing at Cedardale

During their first 5 years working with Lawrence students, Squash Busters has grown to serve 85 students in grades 6-11 while practicing at 3 facilities. This group is from the Arlington Middle School and use the most recent partnership with Cedardale to play Squash. Impressive stats for a new program include the Girls Under 15 B team placing 2nd in the country at the Urban Team Nationals, while Girls Under 17 A and Girls Under 15 A Teams placed third. Nice work SqB Lawrence! Here are a few more photos of them studying and practicing at Cedardale Health and Fitness.
