person painting wall mural saying work hard, show compassion, be responsible

There have been lots of upgrades, renovations and improvements taking place all Summer around the District to get schools ready for our students this Fall. At the South Lawrence East, one noticeable change is this mural painted by the Assistant Principal and her family. Getting ready to welcome everyone back later this month.

On the first day of school, everyone was helping to get our students back to their classrooms and ready to start a great new school year. Welcome back, students! Have a great year!

During this week's Professional Development, 150 LPS Science Educators and Leaders attended the Annual TEACH Conference sponsored by Know Atom at the UMASS Lowell Inn and Conference Center.  The focus of this 3rd annual convening was "Growing a Science Mindset with a Culture of Thinking".  LPS educators served as models and leaders for peers from across the country at this high quality professional conference.

The Lancers' JROTC, National Honor Society and the Wetherbee school participated in the 18th Annual Spicket River Cleanup. They collected trash that was left near the river and in our playgrounds. They learned the importance of keeping our waterways clean and maintaining a safe place for children to play. Some of LPS students have joined this Groundwork event for multiple years. Great job keeping Lawrence clean.

The Superintendent and the Family Engagement Team would like to express our most sincere gratitude to all of you for your attendance and participation during the September Presidents’ Council meeting Tue. The event was a great success! Students, parents, educators, and administrators came together to welcome our new superintendent and to highlight ongoing practices within the LPS. We also want to express our thanks to Dr. Toomey, who provided an update on Standards Based Grading and Reporting Grades K-8.
