Teachers standing around a poster reading "Standards Institute", " Welcome to the Summer Standards Institute"

A team of 24 LPS educators including Principals, Assistant Principals, Deans and Teachers traveled to San Diego to complete UnboundEd's 2018 Summer Standards Institute (SI). SI is a unique and transformative five-day professional development experience that encourages greater understanding of the research behind the standards, and also delivers the practical, day-to-day strategies that can improve instructional practice and leadership in schools. Learning is grounded in conversations about the roles that race, bias and prejudice play in our schools and classrooms. Congratulations to these educators who are committed to building, improving, and sustaining equitable instructional excellence in ELA, math and leadership.

Teachers with posters of their schools

Educators, curriculum leaders, and administrators gathered on Friday, June 15th to celebrate the grouth demonstrated in Reading and Math over 2017-18. 19 LPS schools rely on the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) to plan for instructional supports that target specific student needs and build on strengths. The schools had much to celebrate as they analyzed their strong results and began planning for the 2018-19 school year.
