2 teachers at a training.

Eight LPS teachers are engaged in the last session of their 23 day commitment to the National Academy of Advanced Teacher Education (NAATE).  This group joins a large cohort of nearly 100 high performing educators from across the nation who are immersed in an intense, residential program of study that links their daily practice to key theories, frameworks and principles of the teaching profession. This summer’s 7-day session took place at the Yale School of Management in New Haven, CT. We look forward to honoring their achievement as they become “NAATE FELLOWS”, joining other LPS colleagues form previous cohorts. Congratulations!

A team of 24 LPS educators including Principals, Assistant Principals, Deans and Teachers traveled to San Diego to complete UnboundEd's 2018 Summer Standards Institute (SI). SI is a unique and transformative five-day professional development experience that encourages greater understanding of the research behind the standards, and also delivers the practical, day-to-day strategies that can improve instructional practice and leadership in schools. Learning is grounded in conversations about the roles that race, bias and prejudice play in our schools and classrooms. Congratulations to these educators who are committed to building, improving, and sustaining equitable instructional excellence in ELA, math and leadership.
