Rotary Teacher of the Year winners 2017

During an entertaining evening of dinner, song and theater, 19 Lawrence teachers nominated for this year's Teacher of the Year and Rising Star Teacher honors were celebrated. The Teacher of the Year winners this year are Anita Fowler from the Rollins School and Shaun Dunlevy from the Bruce School. The Rising Star Teachers winners this year are Chrissy Rosa, also at the Bruce School and Richard Poor from the UP Academy Leonard. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners from the entire LPS District.

This Kindergarten student is starting off the first day with a healthy breakfast thanks to the Nutrition Services Department. More than 7,000 daily breakfasts were served around Lawrence Public Schools at the last count. Details here about the Benefits of Breakfast in the Classroom. This past Saturday new families from across the district joined the LPS Family. Special presentations by bucket drummer and dancers welcomed new families. Community partners from across Lawrence also came to give book bags, supplies, and information on opportunities in Lawrence. Welcome new families, we're glad to have you!
