Many GMS 8th graders attended the Nature's Classroom overnight field trip in Groton, MA the week before Thanksgiving. Students and teachers left Monday morning and spent two nights in the woods, returning mid-day Wednesday. The overall goal of the trip was to encourage students to learn by engaging in entirely new and unfamiliar experiences in the outdoors. Students experimented with shelter building, rocket design, civilization modelling, and snake dissections, and then enjoyed more relaxed time in improv classes, singalongs, and meal time. On Culture Night, students learned traditional dances, and in team building activities, they learned how to work together through new and difficult challenges.
