High School Learning Center Events

HLC Entire Class

Students from the High School Learning Center participated in a team building event with staff members at Salisbury Beach State Reservation on Thursday, September 22.

Faculty and students participated in many events at the beach including flag football, volleyball, grilling, s'more eating, swimming, Pokemon catching, Pokemon battling, and a scavenger hunt that encouraged students and staff to get to know each other and build relationships.

The HLC community bonded throughout the day. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather during our first bonding trip as a school. As we embark on the rest of our 2016-17 school year, we now have fun and exciting memories as well as a strong foundation of meaningful relationships to build upon.

We strongly encourage you to check out the HLC Photo Gallery where you can see photos from this event and dozens of previous HLC events.

Please be reminded: the HLC Back to School Open House will take place on Wednesday, September 28 from 6-8pm. The event will include food, open gym, open mic, and a meet and greet opportunity with the school's faculty. We hope to see our students and their families there.

At our monthly Town Hall Meeting, the High School Learning Center recognized its Honor Roll students for Term 1.

We are very happy to announce that 10 students achieved a spot on the honor roll and nine students achieved a spot on the high honor roll.

Congratulations to these students; we hope that you continue your success in Term 2 and beyond.

HLC Awards

Students from the High School Learning Center received awards for demonstrating the values of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention System).

The HLC promotes the values of communication, accountability, resilience, effort, and support through its PBIS.

Students will continue to receive these awards at our monthly Town Hall meetings which are held to celebrate, recognize, and acknowledge our phenomenal student body.

The High School Learning Center held its first ever alumni basketball game on Monday, March 5.

Students from last year's team, which won 3rd place in the GBBL tournament, took on members of the current HLC Tigers team.

The current squad defeated the alumni squad by the score of 80-68. It was a wonderful celebration for the High School Learning Center and a fun and competitive game to watch.

HLC Listening

On Tuesday, October 23, the HLC welcomed parents to participate in our first Listening Series of the year. Parents met with students and staff over coffee and pastries and shared some of their hopes and dreams for their children's futures. The HLC will provide parents with several opportunities throughout the year to engage in dialogue about some of the things that HLC is doing well and areas in which we can improve. If you would like to contribute, please call the High School Learning Center at 978-975-5917 or stop by at 58 Lawrence Street. We would love to hear from you!

In other news, the HLC was recently featured in LPS' Partnership Heroes initiative. Click HLC short video to watch the video that features the HLC's effort to build the relationship between school and family.

Check out the HLC Photo Gallery to see photos from recent school events including our October Town Hall. Eight students received awards for the efforts during Term 1.
