HLC Alumni BBall

The High School Learning Center held its annual Alumni Basketball Game on Thursday night, February 27.

For the first time in school history, the alumni team defeated the current team. The final score was 85-58.

We thank Tigers head coach Chris Brown for building up a strong program here at HLC that gives students a chance to show their talents and participate in an extracurricular activity each winter. A special thanks to the whole Brown family for coaching, cooking, and operating the scoreboard.

The HLC Tigers finish their regular season on February 28 and will look to defend their title in the GBBL playoffs next week.

HLC Acceleration Academy

At the High School Learning Center, 48 students completed Acceleration Academy in English, Math, and History. Students earned credits towards graduation and prepared for future MCAS exams during the one week program.

The HLC looks forward to hosting another week of Acceleration Academy from April 20-24.

HLC Honor Roll

The High School Learning Center held its monthly Town Hall awards ceremony to celebrate students who made the honor roll and high honor roll.

We also had our annual Thanksgiving celebration and MCAC (Massachusetts College Application Celebration). Check out the photo gallery to see pictures of these school events.

HLC Entire Class

Students from the High School Learning Center participated in a team building event with staff members at Salisbury Beach State Reservation on Thursday, September 22.

Faculty and students participated in many events at the beach including flag football, volleyball, grilling, s'more eating, swimming, Pokemon catching, Pokemon battling, and a scavenger hunt that encouraged students and staff to get to know each other and build relationships.

The HLC community bonded throughout the day. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather during our first bonding trip as a school. As we embark on the rest of our 2016-17 school year, we now have fun and exciting memories as well as a strong foundation of meaningful relationships to build upon.

We strongly encourage you to check out the HLC Photo Gallery where you can see photos from this event and dozens of previous HLC events.

Please be reminded: the HLC Back to School Open House will take place on Wednesday, September 28 from 6-8pm. The event will include food, open gym, open mic, and a meet and greet opportunity with the school's faculty. We hope to see our students and their families there.
