Lawlor Events

Hello Lawlor Families!

We are very excited about the first day of remote instruction: Wednesday September 16th . All parents and guardians for our Lawlor Learners are invited to come to the school to pick up school backpacks filled with toys, supplies, and learning tools. These materials have been carefully organized to support learning at home and we need parents to help children keep these special items crisp, clean, and organized for teaching and learning time. We will also have iPads to LOAN to the families who are in need of technology and indicated that need on our District Student Needs Assessment Survey. At this point I believe all of our families have completed the survey which is INCREDIBLE and has been so helpful as we plan for the first day. The iPads we are able to loan to families do not have cases yet. The order for cases has not been delivered, but we want to make sure our students are able to begin learning on day one. We ask that all families who borrow the iPad take very good care of it. Families may be responsible for the cost of replacing any lost or broken device. There is a Loaner Agreement Form that all families will have to complete before they can leave the school with a device. We thank you for your patience when you come to pick up the device, we will work to make it as quick and convenient as possible. In order to best organize a safe and happy distribution of materials, we are asking that parents come on the following days to pick up learning tools. We want to keep our building, staff, and visitors safe. With that in mind, we ask that one parent/guardian come from each child’s family to pick up the materials. As much as we want to meet our students, and I assure you that we do, having the fewest visitors possible is safest for our little building. Please don't forget to wear your mask, and we look forward to meeting you soon! See below for pick up dates and times:

Greetings New Lawlor Lions!

We are so excited to welcome you to the Lawlor School at 41 Lexington Street. I am Mrs. Jessica MacLeod, Principal of the Lawlor School, and I look forward to meeting you and your child on our first day of Kindergarten – September 2nd! I had the great pleasure of being a kindergarten teacher myself for nine years before transitioning to school leadership, and this will be my second year leading the Lawlor Team. You will soon see that the Lawlor is a small and happy school, filled with fantastic little minds and an incredibly dedicated staff.

The Lawlor is a Kindergarten-only school, which means your young learner will be with us for one very important year – Kindergarten! Our staff are knowledgeable and dedicated to creating safe and happy learning environments so that our young scholars can reach their individual potential. We specialize in helping all our learners become familiar with letters, numbers, books, the best ways to be good friends, and we look forward to working with you to better understand your child’s unique interests and skills.

The pandemic has left us all wondering about a new normal, including what school will look like this fall. Rest assured, the district is working with state guidance to consider how we safely bring students back, including addressing not just academic, but social, emotional and physical safety needs. As we get closer to the start of the new school year, and have a better understanding of our local health realities, I will be reaching out with specific information about what school will look like for all of us and how you can best help your child with school readiness. We’ll also be creating some special opportunities to welcome you and your new student, while keeping safety priority number one. These communications will be sent via US Post Office, in automated phone calls, and via email. If you change your phone number or move during the summer, please communicate that by calling the school on or after August 3, at 978-975- 5956. Also, if you don’t have an email address I encourage you to consider opening one. Email communication with school staff is a common and very helpful practice, and we found that email was often the best way to stay connected during the emergency school closure.

I know you and your incoming Lawlor Lion have many questions about their first year of school. We will work together to create a successful year with lots of learning, playing, and memory making. Dear Lawlor students and families,

We miss you so much and hope you are all safe, happy, and healthy!  Lawlor educational teams are working to create a space for enrichment and community in their Google Classrooms.  Google Classrooms are accessible in your students Clever accounts.  Students have been using Clever in school, so they will likely know how to log in.  Students are encouraged to log in Monday - Friday between 9am and noon for real time Zoom meetings and prerecorded activities.  We understand that our families may not be able to access Google Classrooms during that timeframe, so all prerecorded activities and links can be accessed at a time that works best.  If you have any questions about Google Classroom or anything else, please reach out to your child's teacher.  Stay well!

Lawlor students receiving timberland gifts

We were lucky enough that Timberland chose OUR SCHOOL for their day of service!  We have about 30 Timberland employees from their corporate office here.  They are giving each of our kindergarten students a new pair of Timberland shoes, a backpack, and some other small goodies.  They are also hard at work beautifying our school- such as adding some decor to the nurses office and hallways, painting, and our two Rosa's are getting a front office make-over!  Stay tuned for more photos and updates to come!

Students in Ms. Quinlan's class here at the Lawlor designed these patriotic hearts as they learned about our Constitution.
