The Rollins Early Childhood Center is located at 451 Howard Street at the top of Prospect Hill in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  The building itself is located in the National Register of Historic Places. (1892) The building was named after a Prominent citizen, Civil war veteran, Superintendent of schools  and Mayor John R. Rollins. Outstanding features of the school include a clock tower and bell that rings on the hour. The Rollins will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2017. In 2008, the Rollins opened as an Early Childhood Center housing Pre-K and Kindergarten students. There are presently 170 students enrolled in the Rollins Early Childhood Center. There are a total of 50 staff members. There is one Highly Qualified and Licensed Principal in Charge. There are 13 classrooms on the first and second floors of the building. All classes are staffed by Highly Qualified and Licensed teachers.  There is at least one or more Paraprofessionalsl in each classroom.  There are three levels to the building. The lower level houses the Early Childhood Evaluation Center along with the Library/Sensory room, Science room and Cafeteria.

The Rollins staff nurtures & cultivates a strong welcoming school environment for all students and parents.  The Early Childhood Centers are often the families’ introduction to the Lawrence Public School’s lifelong learning. We feel it is our mission to make their first experiences positive and memorable.  We the staff of the Rollins are unconditionally committed to all children meeting or exceeding district and/or state standards. Our classroom lessons are engaging and hands on with high expectations for all students.

On behalf of the Rollins School staff, I wish to welcome you to the Rollins Early Childhood Center and look forward to meeting you at our open houses and PTA meetings. I want to assure you that safety and academic success of your child is top priority.  My door is always open to you to discuss any concern you might have regarding your child.  I look at the Rollins Early Childhood as a partnership of parents, teachers and community leaders working together for the ultimate goal of student achievement.

Thank you for the trust you have in us in educating your children in these important foundational years.
