Jessica Deimel, Principal:

Jessica Deimel has been in education for over a decade, working primarily with middle school students.  She joined the UP Education Network team as an Academic Coach in 2018 when she moved to Boston to be closer to family, and has been privileged to support the UP schools in Lawrence for the past two years in that role prior to stepping into the principal position for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Deimel began her time in education as a Teach For America corps member in Philadelphia as a middle school ELA and social studies teacher, where she also worked to develop a theater program for the students.  She moved into administration after almost six years in the classroom, becoming a Director of Curriculum and Instruction at a Young Scholars Kenderton school supporting grades 5-8.  She then moved to Mastery Charter School, where she worked at various times with grades K-8 as an Assistant Principal of Instruction.  She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University.  Outside of school, Ms. Deimel enjoys reading, spending time outdoors hiking and camping, and running the occasional 5 or 10K race.
