Leahy Topping Ceremony
On March 20th, the Leahy School building site was the scene of an official Topping Ceremony. The construction project has made great progress. Lawrence Public Schools Staff, elected officials and students were able to put their signature on the beam before it was lifted into place.

District Music Concert 2024
Students of all ages from nine schools around the District participated in the annual Music Department District Concert. The audience was enthusiastic about the range of music from vocal to instrumental.

Shuttle Hurdle Team Competed at Nationals
Yes, that is correct, the Lawrence Lancer Boys 55M Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team qualified and ran in the Nationals this weekend at the New Balance Track in Boston. This team was fired up and ready to go and broke the school record with a time of 31.79 seconds, with that time they finished 19th of 43 nationally ranked teams. Congratulations on a great run!

Breen Luminary Project
The Breen PK students have been learning about “light” and its various forms. As a culminating activity, they created luminaries and we set them up around the school as a “luminary path” and students and teachers walked the path together.

Lancer Boys Basketball Playoff Victory
Teammates celebrate a great play as our Lawrence Lancer Boys Basketball Team moves on in Playoffs to the Round of 8. In a game where scoring stayed close all night, they defeated local rival Central Catholic 55-53 to get the victory. Congratulations to the team, and good luck in the next round.
Lancers play next at Babson College in Wellesley, MA against Catholic Memorial this Friday, March 8 at 6:30pm.

LEAP into STEM at the Bruce
In collaboration between Merrimack College and our 6th grade staff, the Bruce School hosted its first “LEAP into STEM” night for our 6th grade students and families last Thursday.

Bruce Visits the Concord Heritage Museum
The fifth grade students at the Alexander B. Bruce had an exciting visit to our local Concord Museum in Concord, MA to examine colonial American artifacts and learn about early colonial life.

Box City Creations at Hennessey
Hennessey School students learned about and created their own communities during February Acceleration Academy. During Art class they are having fun painting and decorating the Box City buildings.

Hillary MacDonald 1st Lancer Girls State Champ
Hillary MacDonald, a first year wrestler and Sophomore beat the #1 seed at 165lbs to become the 1st Lawrence Lancer Girls Wrestler to capture an All State title. Hillary beat Earlyn Figueroa of East Longmeadow in the finals by a pin in 44 seconds in the first period to capture the win at the Girls All State Wrestling Tournament. She is also the first D1 Girls Champ in that weight class for Lawrence.
Daniela Garcia, a first year freshman, took 5th overall at 126lbs. She qualified by earning 2nd place in the earlier D1 event.
Katelyn Belanger, also a first year wrestler and 9th grader in Abbott, also won the D1 championship in the 145 pound class.
Lots of training and hard work paid off for these girls! Congratulations to all!
Good luck to Hillary as she continues on to the New Englands in Providence next weekend.

During the February Acceleration Academy, students in 10GA created projects based on one of three books they read. Projects ranged from slide presentations to relevant song playlists and boardgames about the characters and books.
