Acceleration Academy at Oliver Elementary
Fifth Grade students at Oliver Elementary spent the week traveling back in time to 1912 to research and study the Lawrence Textile Mill Strike. Through reading Bread and Roses, Too and analyzing primary sources from the Public Library and the Heritage State Park, students learned the impact the strike had on the community. As a culmination of their learning students wrote narratives from different perspectives of the strike and made loaves of bread.

Trade and Career Fair
Gear Up hosted the annual Trade and Career Fair for students at Lawrence High School. Thirty training schools and employers participated by sharing information about many careers such as HVAC, Electrician, Plumbing, Healthcare, Manufacgturing and more.

Theater Workshop with Luis Salgado
New York based choreographer, director and educator Luis Salgado returned to Lawrence to workshop with the students in LHS Theater. The group learned new scenes, body movement and direction as they prepare for an evening performance in the Black Box Theater named for Salgado.

Karate Demo Excitement
These 3rd Graders at the Oliver Elementary School and all other grades got to participate in a fun, karate challenge demonstration with Mr. Godin of Premier Martial Arts. They focused on 5 basic skills including focus and self-control and some had the chance to test their skills like board breaking.
